Recognizing great potential
Climate, infrastructure, technology, medicine: today’s students are the engineers of tomorrow’s solutions.
That’s why we fund key awards for remarkable engineering students—ones who hold the potential to make a lasting impact on the world.
Pearl Sullivan Emerging Global Leaders Award
University of Waterloo, Department of Engineering
We’ve made a five-year commitment (2021–2025) to fund the annual $50,000 Pearl Sullivan Scholarship, named after the long-time dean of engineering at the University of Waterloo.
Only the fourth female dean of engineering in Canadian history, Dr. Sullivan was widely beloved by students and colleagues. Just three months after her namesake scholarship was announced, she died of cancer.
Each year, this scholarship supports a promising engineering student in their graduating year who will work to build a better world—just as Dr. Sullivan did.
“I work with people to try to understand their side, and I try to help people become the best they can be. That’s what I believe, that’s what I enjoy.”
– Dr. Pearl Sullivan
Troost ILead Difference Maker Award
University of Toronto, Department of Engineering
Where U of T goes, others follow. One of the university’s most inspiring programs is Troost ILead, an organization devoted to fostering leadership and training in engineering.
Its mission—encouraging engineering students to think of themselves as leaders while equipping them with the resources needed for lifelong leadership development—is one that deeply resonates with our team.
In support of Troost ILead’s efforts to raise the bar for engineering education, we’ve made a five-year commitment (2021–2025) to fund the annual $50,000 Troost ILead Difference Maker Award—recognizing a remarkable fourth-year undergraduate student who dreams of building a better world.
